Pupils from the Reigate School of Ballet & Commercial Dance's musical theatre department, alongside many of our pre-school "Sparkle" ballerinas, performed at the Reigate Community Festival again this year.
The RSB Dance Schools put on three performances:
We had a really supportive turn-out this year from our parents, all dressed in their costumes and ready to move. They were extremely adorable and showed off their ballet routines to a very large crowd. Accompanied by Miss Evans, Miss Rachael and Miss Kelly, the teachers were very proud of them all in such a different environment. It all helps their confidence!
We luckily avoided the torrential rain, and our troupe showed off their end-of-year Cats medley to a huge crowd. The piece, especially choreographed by our Starlight team of teachers, was one of the few medleys our teachers could incorporate all 4 of our age-specific classes effectively. They have performed this number at the Harlequin Theatre Redhill a few weeks ago in our mini CLASS ACT Theatre Arts Project. This project was especially rewarding to Miss Evans who starred as the white cat in the original West End production. Despite the sound issues with the PA, the kids did us proud yet again.
3) Our Senior Starlight Group
Our Senior Group performed a second piece revised from our earlier project based on the cult musical "Return to the Frobidden Planet", as part of the Shakespeare themed project laid on by the Festival. With elements of drama, singing and dancing, they performed at the "Globe Theatre". Many of our seniors have grown in confidence over the years and readily perform as a unit on a regular basis. Well done to them all!!
Following the performances and after lunch, the heavens opened up, so we narrowly avoided this.
Thankyou to all the parents who brought the pupils and who came to support the event. Without your support, these events would not have been possible, and the pupils visibly look forward to the these performing opportunities.
