RSB Dance in the Community

The Reigate School of Ballet & Commercial Dance has been contributing to the local community for many years, in Reigate, Redhill & Dorking, providing an invaluable service to both children and adults alike. Our passion for dance and performing arts has enabled us to help children find their confidence through performance and music, which inevitably gives every child the tools for life.

LOCAL CHARITIES

For as long as we can remember, the Reigate School of Ballet has raised thousands of pounds for local charities and even park play equipment in Reigate & Redhill (namely Woodhatch and Priory Park). Charities include The Children's Trust, British Heart Foundation, Stripey Stork (Redhill), and raising awareness for the Sands charity.

FREE DANCE CLASSES

Every week, teachers from our dance school provide FREE music and movement classes in the heart of Reigate's Priory Park (Pistachios Cafe), for pre-school children. This drop-in class has proved very popular and provide a real hub for parents and child-minders to mingle and socialize while the little ones burn up energy and begin experiencing music and movement. The classes are totally free. Our lessons enable children to experience dance in all forms without the having to commit to a term.

CLASS ACT CONCERTS

Every year, RSB continues to support local primary schools to provide a platform for them to perform on a professional theatre stage free of charge. Every participating school then receives a cut of the show's ticket sale profits so that they can use to further finance future artistic projects in their own establishments. It's a WIN WIN scenario for all schools - they get to perform to a wider audience while earning money for their schools.

STAR FOR A NIGHT

The Reigate School of Ballet & Commercial Dance produced and directed Reigate Borough Council's STAR FOR A NIGHT 2017 which provided FREE singing, dancing and acting tuition for teenagers in the area, culminating in 2 performances at the Harlequin Theatre, Redhill.  RSB was the first establishment to introduce teenage bands and musicians into the show, and added a fantastic prize to 4 children to record in a professional recording studio who showed promise, commitment and a hard working ethos.

REIGATE CHRISTMAS LIGHTS

We have been supporting the Reigate Christmas Lights for many many years, and the children love performing during this festive season. Despite the cold, our children have always delighted the crowds with their smiles, and the "Christmas "Lights" attract thousands of people every year.

RUGBY CLUB ALTERNATIVE TRAINING METHODS

From time to time, we have out of the ordinary requests from individual local groups. Reigate Rugby Club asked our teachers to put them through their paces with stretches that they wouldn't often be asked to do in normal training, and we had a queue of teachers wanting this gig!! On a more serious note, the Australian Rugby team regularly uses ballet exercises to stretch and limber their players, and we were more than happy to assist Reigate's local team!! For more info - click here

FLASHMOBS

We introduced dance flashmobs in Redhill town centre in 2017, in association with Reigate and Banstead Borough Council. Children were taught a dance in a few hours and then performed the routine in 3 locations around Redhill. For more info - click here
