Our hugely popular Starlight Musical Theatre classes consists of 6 aged defined classes involving singing, dancing, performance techniques and drama. With the recent popularity of this course (of which 3 of the teachers are either ex or current West End professional dancers), we have introduced a 5th class so all the children dance, sing and act with their own age-groups. All disciplines help improve a child's confidence, co-ordination and social skills. This gives them a firm grounding to further their performing arts training in college, degree courses. theatrical performing or to simply help learn new life skills and becoming confident individuals.

Suitable for all abilities, our musical theatre course brings together many styles of dance and singing, in a fun environment. Children are approximately grouped in age groups.

The children perform a show every year at the Harlequin Theatre, Redhill and at the end of each term, perform a workshop adaptation of a musical for parents, friends and family. And being part of a large established and award winning dance school, many Starlight pupils also perform in other events, including the Reigate Christmas Lights, Royal Albert Hall and Strictly Come Dancing's Pasha Uk tour.

This course is a very cost effective £99 per term (2 hour sessions per week for groups 1 - 3). Our seniors receive 3 hours for the same price. This makes it affordable enough for children to further their dance skills with other classes we offer, which is vital if any child is serious about a career in the theatre.

Many of our children learn modern dance and tap dance also, as this compliments the musical theatre styles.

Unlike many schools, our full course dedicates SIX teachers, with specialists for each discipline:

  • dance

  • drama

  • singing

  • performance techniques

We feel the children get the benefits from specialists in each field.

Private and Group Singing Lessons in Reigate

Starlight have 2 singing teachers and 1 musical director associated with the school. We have one teacher who teaches private singing lessons (or in pairs). She has much experience with teaching children, and she is a musical theatre soloist in her own right, and an ideal inspiration for children aspiring to be soloists themselves.

While Starlight focuses on singing as a chorus, and providing tools for children to improve their vocal skills - projection, tone, diction, learning to harmonise effectively and increasing the confidence of children to start singing in smaller groups and solos,  private singing lessons can focus on the individual voice, and learning to gain confidence, increase musicality and develop vocal technique to project as a soloist over a shorter time.

Lessons take place in and around Reigate, and booked separately. Please ring on 01737 247795 for more details.

youth theatre productions
Full-scale Musical Productions at affordable prices in Reigate & Redhill

the 'Reigate Youth Musical Theatre' group

RSB along with Genesis Productions have teamed up to form the Reigate Youth Musical Theatre group, which focuses on training young children to perform, and putting all their skills learned in class into use. We thrive on providing quality training at affordable prices, and all rehearsals are in Reigate / Redhill, while performances are at the Harlequin Theatre.

We have a team of choreographers to choose from, and hire directors and technicians from Central London also.

We provide children with an avenue for which to perform full-scale works (or shorter junior versions), and give younger children the chance to learn the skills of being chorus members, minor and main roles. We ensure the musicals we choose are appropriate for the voices, and as a result, subsidiary and main roles can be cast to younger children than other theatre groups.
