CLASS ACT - Reigate / Redhill
The Schools Initiative Theatre Arts Project
The Schools Initiative Theatre Arts Project is an annual event at the Harlequin Theatre, Redhill, where local schools are invited to participate a performing arts piece in front of a wider audience. The scheme (also known as CLASS ACT), was set up by the RSB Dance Group, along with Genesis Productions, to help promote the arts in local schools in Reigate and Redhill, and is proving to be an ideal way to raise funds for school arts projects.
The benefits to children are huge - they perform to a wider audience in a large professional theatre, and confidence and enjoyment in the arts is elevated. PLUS, schools benefit from a profit share of the show every year. Everyone's a winner !
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Local schools are invited to perform a dance, music or musical theatre number of their choice in a professional show at our local professional theatre. The rest of the show content is made up of RSB's non-syllabus classes:
Once the shows are over, the proceeds are equally divided to all participating external schools to spend on (hopefully) artistic projects, or promoting the arts within their own establishments.
WOULD YOU LIKE US TO ORGANISE A PIECE FOR YOUR SCHOOL?
RSB are the largest dance schools in Reigate and Redhill and have a wealth of dance and performing arts teachers on offer to teach your children a piece for CLASS ACT. RSB Dance already organise dance clubs at over 10 local schools, and are more than happy to help create a piece for your school for the show. Please contact us for more details.
Pieces need to be 2 - 5 mins in length and have a minimum of approximately 20 pupils. If you have over 50 pupils (per piece), please let us know early so that we can allocate spacing backstage.

"We had such a great time at this show, it was so well organised and everyone was so helpful and friendly and it was great to see such a variety in the performances! Thankyou again!"
Nicola Perterson-Jones (Reigate St. Mary's School)
"It was a fantastic opportunity for some of our pupils to experience performing on a larger stage and to a wider audience. It is great to have this link with the Theatre Arts Project as it enables pupils to develop their performing skills and gain confidence through the whole experience. Thank you for inviting us to take part."
Joanne Burns (Reigate Priory School)
