Reigate Dance School - Star for a Night

Star for a Night 2017 will be organised by the Reigate School of Ballet & Commercial Dance and RSB Dance schools in 2017 along with Reigate & Banstead Borough Council. The show, which will take place in April 2017, allows pupils from the borough to have tuition for a whole term and perform on a professional stage free of charge. This marvellous opportunity has been provided by Reigate & Banstead Borough Council, who are committed to providing pupils aged 11 and over to experience singing, dancing and acting in Redhill's Harlequin Theatre and sample the delights of performing live on stage in front of a larger audience.

Tuition will be provided by teachers and guest teachers from Reigate's leading dance school, who will bring commercial experience from all their dance and musical teachers. Their popular Starlight Musical Theatre team will also be a big part of the audition process (which takes place on Sunday 29th January), and they will be looking for any child who wishes to dance, sing or act regardless of their experience.

The RSB schools won the tender to produce the show a few weeks ago, and preparations are now in full swing. For the auditions, we are looking for:

  • Dancers in all styles

  • Singers

  • Actors

  • Musicians to form an on-stage band

The auditions will be in workshop-style, and you will be taught a short dance/song/acting piece to perform in a group to the judges. Those who wish to sing solo will be asked to sing 1 verse from the song covered in the workshop. We are looking for performing potential!

RSB Dance schools are the most established and experienced performing arts schools in the area, with dance studios throughout Reigate, Redhill and Dorking. The school also has it's own huge 6-performance show in May along with performances in Dorking Halls, Reigate Christmas Lights, dancing alonside Strictly Come Dancing star Pasha Kovalev, at the beginning of his UK tour, and the Theatre Arts Project in May.

Performing is a beautiful feeling of achievement, and every child should be allowed the opportunity to do so - our school's ethos since it began over 53 years ago.

Looking forward to seeing everyone in auditions at the Harlequin Theatre - Sunday 29th January. Details to follow.
