Dance Workshop in Reigate a HIT

Our Charlie and the Chocolate Factory workshop went down a storm with a capacity 72 pupils attending, with many new faces! Led by our own Kelly Hayes who starred in the West End's new production of 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' and Miss Evans (who herself has starred in many West End shows).

The workshop consisted of dance moves directly from the West End production and an intense drama workshop, which saw an interesting array of fantastic facial expressions. Two groups were composed according to their age-group.

Miss Kelly arrived in full Charlie uniform with her cast t-shirt and raring to go, and we started our work at Reigate Community Centre in the heart of Reigate town centre.

Miss Kelly's groups learnt a song and dance to the upbeat song "JUICY" whilst Miss Evans' drama groups characterized the main child characters from the show and the enactment of the scenes. We saw many glitzy movements in the dance routines and the drama produced some lovely versions of the main characters (as can be seen in some of the photos (all photos can be seen in our GALLERY). Can you guess which characters were portrayed from the pictures?

This workshop was very much dance and drama based, with some singing based around the sequences and routines learnt. With only a short break for drinks and biscuits, the children worked extremely hard and were full of energy - much needed in the holiday break!!

The Reigate School of Ballet & Commercial Dance along with RSB Dance organise these dance and performing arts workshops periodically, bringing in industry specialists where required. Although RSB dance teachers are industry professionals themselves, we sometimes bring in visiting teachers who we know to set-up specialised and/or specific workshops, e.g. our recent street dance and hip-hop workshops proved a hit for our juniors and seniors and was taught by a current street dance performer who regularly performs across London.

Pupils belonging to the RSB Dance will be involved in many performances this year - please see our events calendar to see all our professional gigs, performances etc. this year - the most in 1 single year we've ever done, proving the school does not rest on its laurels and continues to work hard for the children and their development.

In the meantime, a big well done to all the children who attended our Charlie workshop - you were magnificent! We hope you enjoy all the photos!
