Our lovely performers braved the winter weather on Saturday and performed their hearts out in front of a packed Reigate town centre. This is an event in which the Reigate School of Ballet and Commercial Dance and RSB Dance have been associated for many years now, and we are extremely grateful to all the organisers for the opportunity to perform each year.
We were extremely proud! Firstly, our young performers had to dance on a reduced stage (ie the road) with so many proud parents watching as the natural daylight dimmed.
The atmosphere was incredible and all the children enjoyed themselves.
We had performers as young as the age of 5 with the oldest being 14, and the dances were divided appropriately amongst the age-groups. The performing groups had a broad range of styles and clubs:
1. St John's and Holmesdale School Dance clubs (years 1 + 2 pupils)
Piece - Black Magic
2. Our free scholarship ballet class pupils
Piece - Walking in the Air
3. Priory and St John's School Dance clubs (year 3 - 6 pupils)
Piece - Bills
4. Starlight Performing Arts pupils (4 equally divided grouped classes, ages 5 and upwards)
Piece - Our Starlight Performing Arts pupils performed numbers from the cult musical Return to the Forbidden Planet.
If you have more photos the Reigate Xmas Fayre gig,
please send them to us or post on our Facebook page.
All of these performers also had the opportunity to perform at the prestigious Dorking Halls the following week (a slightly warmer venue)! We ensure that our pupils have a balance of live performing events in as many different locations as possible, but we also put much emphasis on technique for those taking their examinations later next year.
However, those who are in clubs or dance classes that do not take examinations, will have a further opportunity to perform at the Harlequin Theatre in Redhill in the Summer. We look forward to this new event! This is in addition to our main bumper 6 bi-annual show at the Harlequin.
From all at the Reigate School of Ballet and Commercial Dance, and RSB Dance, we wish all the children, parents and watchers a VERY MERRY XMAS and a HAPPY NEW YEAR.
See you all in January!
