AWARD WINNING
RSB is an award winning dance school, winning the prestigious Dance School of the Year overall winner this year. RSB teachers have a wealth of performing and teaching experience between them, and they want to pass on their knowledge and experience to the next generation of children. Our Reigate and Redhill dance teachers have performed in London’s West End and other A class theatres across the country, professional ballet companies, TV shows on the BBC and Channel 4, pop videos, and abroad. Their teaching methods / qualifications are also unsurpassed – we have three high I.S.T.D. Licentiate trained teachers, ballet examiners, acrobatic dance trained teachers and above all, LOTS of experience. Some of our teachers still perform professionally, giving a real commercial edge to our teaching. With a mix of youth and highly experienced teachers who constantly keep up to date with current teaching trends, your children get the best of both worlds – careful dance development with exciting and current choreography to maintain a happy and thriving class environment, and a place for your son / daughter to grow.
The Reigate School of Ballet & Commercial Dance principal is a professional dancer by trade, with vast amounts of performing AND teaching knowledge and the school has grown considerably since it was first established in 1963. We are a school that constantly evolves according to current trends and a school that has a future for your child, with established higher grade classes already in place in all dance genres for when they get older. We have a huge I.S.T.D. exam pass rate (exams are optional), and we have the experience to teach all the way to Intermediate and Advanced level.
The Reigate School of Ballet & Commercial Dance is a thriving, experienced and exciting dance school in the heart of Reigate, with huge amounts of performing opportunities for children. Regular performing opportunities include our 6-show Main show at the Harlequin, our “Mini” show (every other year), Class Act, our own Musical Theatre production, three professional performances with Strictly Come Dancing’s Pasha Kovalev (UK tour), numerous performances in Reigate (too many to mention), school fayres, Belfry Shopping Centre in Redhill (including the Christmas Lights with Strictly’s James & Olla), Drama performances, Dorking Halls and the Royal Albert Hall. The Harlequin seems to be a second home for some of our children!! For more details please see our performing page.
As well as performing, we have lots of other events which maintain our family ethos – Easter Schools, Summer Schools, Onesie Movie Nights, daddy & daughter dance days and dance workshops. From toddler age up to adult, we look forward to welcoming you whatever your age or ability.

Testimonials
I studied at Reigate School of Ballet for well over 10 years. I learnt so much and now working as a full time dancer onboard MSC cruises, I love my job. RSB gave me the opportunity to study all types of dance and got me where I am today. I highly recommended the school for all ages.

My eldest daughter joined Reigate School of Ballet for dance lessons and Musical Theatre when she was five. She is now in her seventh year with the school and her two sisters have followed suit. All three girls absolutely love to dance with RSB. The school gives them so many opportunities to learn and perform, particularly the Musical Theatre where they very much feel like part of a big family all working together. Miss Evans seems to just know each of the girls personalities and what would suit them. As well as enjoying their lessons, they particularly look forward to holiday workshops where they get a chance to explore a different type of dance style than they do in their weekly classes. They have all blossomed and grown in confidence since joining RSB. We highly recommend!

Dance Classes Reigate
Our ballet classes are taught by the most experienced team in the area by far. Between them, our teachers have been ballerinas at the highest level. Joanne Evans and Miss Rachael were both trained at the prestigious Royal Ballet School, one is a ballet examiner and two teachers are highly trained with Licentiate qualifications. All our teachers teach from the ages of 18 months through to Advanced level and we make our dance lessons FUN!
Our street dance classes are held in Reigate, and our teacher is the most current in Reigate. Rosie is a working commercial dancer, and brings a fresh and current style to all her classes based on industry trends - the children have loved her dance lessons and we now offer 6 classes in total.
Modern Jazz is a very popular theatrical style, and a good alternative to ballet to learn dance technique. We follow the ISTD syllabus, but we do develop the style to other current music also.
Our Tap Dancing classes follow the ISTD syllabus, and like ballet, we introduce tap at a young age in combined classes. Children then have the option to further their skills in our friendly Grade 1 Tap classes.
Our Musical Theatre classes have a strong team involving three West End performers and experienced teachers, as well as Kelly who joined from the West-End production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. With specialist musical directors and singing teachers, our two courses (split into 6 classes) are extremely popular.
Our Contemporary dance classes have teachers with performing experience galore and are also Licentiate trained (a higher qualification with the I.S.T.D.). This lyrical dance form is popular with teenagers and we have age-specific classes throughout the week.
Toddler classes are all taught by our above teachers to give your toddler the perfect start in dance and movement. We have our own Dance Babes and represent babyballet® in the south east.
Adult Dance classes are taught by Rachael and Michelle who are extremely proficient and experienced. Highly motivated and with huge commercial experience, both teachers will ensure you have fun while working out your fitness through dance.
We don’t have staff that have only had pop music-based careers, as we believe a more rounded background from our teachers is far more beneficial to our children and adults alike. Most commercial performers have a strong ballet background, which is our speciality.
Although our school has expanded over the years, we still provide a very personal approach to all our children and parents alike. Both current and new children will be given the same individual attention throughout their time at our dance school, with our teachers bringing out the best in your child.
Dancing should be fun and exciting, and we capture a child’s imagination from an early age. For older children, whether they want to have dance lessons once a week or want to really progress and follow a path to a professional career, the Reigate School of Ballet and Commercial Dance has the quality of teachers, the breadth of classes already in place to progress to, and the reassurance that the school is well-known in the area.
We cater for all abilities and you can be assured that your child will feel welcome at our school. We are the only school that offers TWO FREE DANCE TRIAL classes for you to make the right decision.

FAQ
At what age do your dance classes start?
We have classes for ages 18 months up to adult, with classes nearly every day for the early year groups.
What is the difference between Sparkle Ballet and Dance Babes?
Dance Babes classes caters for ages 18 months to 3 years of age, while Sparkle Ballet teaches children from ages 2.5 to 4.
Do you teach other dance styles apart from ballet?
Yes we do. We offer Ballet, Commercial Street, Modern Jazz, Tap, Contemporary, Musical Theatre, Fitness and stretching/limbering classes, and toddler classes. The school operated alongside another long established dance school (Reigate School of Modern Theatre Dance). Then when the Principal retired, we merged the 2 schools together. The Reigate School of Ballet is the longest established school in the area, so we did not feel that changing the name was appropriate, so we started another site (Reigate Dance Centre), to in case people think we ONLY do ballet. Both schools operate together now, offering all dance styles.
Do you do Street Dance for early years?
Our street classes start from age 4 (reception). We find children at such an early age need classes that reinforce movement, balance and co-ordination. Until they have this in place, we feel charging parents for a "street" class would not be beneficial to them, as they simply just move around the room or dance freestyle (which they may as well do at home for free!). However, we have a FREE class of general dance down in Priory Park in Reigate for pre-school, which may be a suitable FREE alternative, until they are ready to take instruction.
Do you do dance exams?
Yes - our ballet and tap classes follow the ISTD syllabus, and children have the option to take an exam when ready if they wish to. Many choose not to, but still learn the work. It is really up to the child and parent as to whether they want to take exams or not.
Where do you teach?
We teach in many dance studio locations and halls around Reigate, Redhill, Merstham and 1 branch in Dorking. With so many locations, there will be a class near you.
Do you have shows?
Yes - As a dance school, we probably perform more than any other dance school in the area, from performing during watching weeks, Class Act shows at the Harlequin, Starlight Musical Theatre shows, our main dance 6-performance show, and our own musical. Additionally, those who take many classes per week, also have the opportunity to do other performances such as dancing with the Strictly Come Dancing star Pasha, dancing at the Royal Albert Hall and many others. Shows are entirely optional, but they do reinforce the performance elements that we encourage in class.
