The Reigate School of Ballet & Commercial Dance have been celebrating World Ballet Day throughout this week with photos from various classes. But what exactly is World ballet Day?
WBD is a celebration of dance and it is an opportunity for audiences around the world to see the dedication and commitment needed to be in one of the world's top dance companies. With video links and live facebook stream directly from the top company's dance classes, and on October 4th 2016, the footage showed the athleticism required for ballet - we have loved the saying:
"It takes an athlete to dance, but an artist to be a dancer"
The Autralian Ballet, Bolshoi Ballet, The Royal ballet, The National Ballet of Canada and San Francisco Ballet all joined forces to celebrate this magnificent day with a first-ever live facebook stream. Other regional dance companies were also invited - Hong Kong Ballet, Queensland Ballet, West Australian Ballet, English National Ballet, Birmingham Royal Ballet, Scottish Ballet, Northern Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Houston Ballet Miami City Ballet, Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo and finally Nederlands Dans Theater.
We are thrilled as a dance school whose roots have been built on ballet since 1969, that there were so many British Ballet companies involved on the day, which shows the true artistic support and quality we have here in the UK.
